5 Best Blog Posts of All Time

A lot of thought goes into crafting weekly blog posts for White Oak Lodge and Resort, so we hope you have as much fun reading them as we do writing them.

We took a look at the blog posts that were liked, shared and viewed the most and saw we hit it out of the park with certain topics.

Enjoy revisiting (or reading for the first time) some of our best work.

Summer Fireworks Light Up the Sky at Dollywood

When it’s summer and you’re at Dollywood, you’re already winning. Their amazing fireworks display is just the icing on the cake.

“From June 14 until August 3, you can take advantage of extended park hours from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. every day. The park will open with a live Star Spangled Banner performance and end in a dazzling fireworks display called Dolly’s Nights of Many Colors.”

How Wildfires Happen and What’s Next

There was nothing to like about the recent devastating wildfires, but we tried to make it a priority to keep our readers informed. Fortunately, White Oak Lodge and Resort came out OK and some good people stepped up to help Gatlinburg heal.

“Gatlinburg Mayor Mike Warner offered words of hope and strength, promising Gatlinburg is strong and resilient and ‘it will be OK.’ We weren’t surprised to learn that Sevierville native and humanitarian Dolly Parton started a My People Fund to help those who lost everything.”

It’s All about the Griddle in Gatlinburg

This happens to be one of my personal favorite posts too. Writing it was agony when all I wanted to do was tool around Gatlinburg sampling all these pancakes.

“With six total locations (three in Gatlinburg alone) Flapjacks is a pancake must. They have more than 10 types of pancakes, but the two favorites are the Sticky Bun (cinnamon swirled with pecans and drizzled with creamy icing) and Grandma’s Peanut Butter & Banana. Flapjacks also serves French toast, waffles, omelets, biscuits…who cares. They had me at Sticky Bun.”

Five Things Not to Miss in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge

These two places have some very iconic spots and attractions, with more added every year. We try to dutifully keep you in-the-know so you can plan accordingly!

“If you want to be blown away by the view, check out Clingman’s Dome. Here’s what you need to know: At 6,643 feet, it’s the highest point in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. On a clear day, you can see up to seven different states (there’s a map to help you identify them).”

White Oak Sets the Standard for Excellence

You know it. We know it. White Oak Lodge and Resort is awesome and the staff is the main reason. That’s probably why we’ve racked up so many TripAdvisor Certificates of Excellence!

Guest review on TripAdvisor: “Charlie…is wonderful…Erin (check-in desk) is also wonderful. They feel like family to us and remember us each year. We have started a family tradition of coming here every Feb. with our kids/grand kids & siblings. We could live here! Oh yeah, great location! Close to everything, but still far enough away to be able to relax.”
