Winter Magic Starts Tonight!

Gatlinburg kicks off the 27th year of Smoky Mountain Winterfest with the annual Gatlinburg Chili Cookoff tonight, and that means Winter Magic time is here!

If you’re visiting White Oak Lodge and Resort during this holiday season, you can enjoy the mystical magic lights displayed along Gatlinburg’s downtown parkway, the adjacent River Road, and Highway 321.

You can always enjoy Winter Magic on foot while shopping or dining in downtown Gatlinburg, but you can also take a load off and soak up the spirit of the season from the comfort of a Gatlinburg Trolley by taking the relaxing Trolley Ride of Lights for just $5.

  • Trolley times are at 6:30, 7:30 and 8:30 p.m.
  • Children under 3 are free if sitting in the lap of an adult.
  • Trolley is enclosed and heated.
  • You can purchase tickets online.

The light displays have all been converted to LED bulbs for an eco-friendly, cost effective show. You’ll see themes featuring native Great Smoky Mountains National Park wildlife in addition to snowmen, dancing fountains, children frolicking and much more.

Winter Magic stays up for 120 glorious nights (November 9, 2016 – January 31, 2017) so you’ll have time to catch it if you’re in Gatlinburg.

Don’t miss this Smoky Mountain tradition! If you don’t have your White Oak Lodge and Resort stay planned this year, book your condo or cabin now for next year.

Have you visited Gatlinburg during the holidays? What do you like best to see and do?
