Quirky to Historical: Gatlinburg’s Many Museums

Gatlinburg has no shortage of family attractions, particularly museums. But Gatlinburg museums are anything but dry and boring. From Ripley’s “Odditorium” to Hollywood Star Cars, there’s plenty of family friendly fun to be had.

We decided to take a look back at all the cool museums White Oak Lodge & Resort has covered over the years.

Ripley’s Believe It or Not Odditorium
According to Ripley’s, the Odditorium is the perfect place for a little family “edutainment”. You’ll learn, laugh and the kids will have plenty of interactivity to keep them entertained. It’s three floors with more than 500 exhibits and artifacts. Mexican Vampire Woman? Got it. 12-foot Transformer made from scrap car parts? Yep. Ripley’s has it all from two-headed cows and authentic shrunken heads to strange-but-true facts and life-size interactive games.

Guinness World Records Museum
Part of Ripley’s, The Guinness Museum brings the amazing book to life through incredible displays, interactive games, trivia, themed galleries and video. Enjoy hundreds of unbelievable exhibits of Guinness World Records from amazing groups of sports, space, animals, food, human achievement and more.

Salt & Pepper Shaker Museum
Where else can you peruse more than 20,000 salt and pepper shaker sets and pepper mills from all over the world? It’s the only museum in the world of its kind, and the $3 admission charge is good toward any purchase in the gift shop.

Hollywood Star Cars Museum
See the most famous film & TV cars from the Gone in 60 Seconds Mustang to the 1966 Batmobile at the Hollywood Star Cars Museum. Examine more than 40 iconic vehicles made popular over the past 50 years, displayed with sound, lights and action. Visit the gift shop to get a commemorative in-the-car souvenir photo or take home a die-cast collectible.

Titanic Museum
The Titanic Museum in Pigeon Forge is the world’s largest Titanic museum attraction, offering exhibits that create a comprehensive story of the RMS Titanic. In addition to $4.5 million worth of artifacts on display, here are some of the experiences you can have here: walk an exact replica of the Titanic grand staircase; sit in an actual-size lifeboat and feel 28-degree glacial waters; shovel coal in the Titanic’s boiler room; take the kids to Tot-Tanic, an interactive area for guests 8 and under; or take a self-guided tour.

Hollywood Wax Museum (Pigeon Forge)
Is your family vacation really complete without photos alongside the likes of modern day movie stars like Bradley Cooper, Anne Hathaway, Natalie Portman and Brad Pitt or standing side by side with classic entertainers like Elvis Presley, Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, and John Wayne? Make your way to the Hollywood Wax Museum and you’ll have fun posting photos that will fool your friends back home.

No matter which direction you travel in during your White Oak Lodge & Resort stay, you’re bound to come across a fascinating museum.
