National Park Service Rolls Out New Features for 100th Birthday

The National Park Service turns 100 this coming August, but the festivities are already here. With the help of Brand USA, the NPS has all sorts of goodies for you in the name of smartphone apps, events and even a feature film.

If you’ve been to White Oak Lodge and Resort, you’re probably a fan of national parks like the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, which is practically next door.

All nature lovers can help celebrate our nation’s most cherished landscapes leading up to the NPS’s century mark on August 25, 2016.

Centennial Events
For the most in depth look at the National Parks, helps visitors see parks as more than just a destination. These respected parks offer 360-degree experiences, from cultural history to environmental conservation to unknown natural wonders. And with the NPS centennial fast approaching, there are events all year long around the country.

This site is your hub to find out where and when those are happening. If you’re visiting National Parks destinations like the Great Smoky Mountains National Park or others next year, you’ll want to check this page to see if there are any events you can fit into your schedule. The website is fun to browse, too, because it shows all of the National Parks and Sites closest to you. We bet there are some that you didn’t even know about!

Travel Guides by The Telegraph
The Telegraph, in partnership with Brand USA, is rolling out some neat National Park Guides on its free Apple iOS app. Find itineraries, points of interest, general information and other goodies for specific parks and explore them like a pro. Along with a guide featuring an overview for every park, the app will have special guides dedicated to the top five most visited parks, which include:

  1. Great Smoky Mountains National Park
  2. Grand Canyon National Park
  3. Yosemite National Park
  4. Yellowstone National Park (Yellowstone was also the first designated National Park)
  5. Rocky Mountain National Park
