Willkommen to OktOBERfest

It’s time again for Oktoberfests to start popping up everywhere, and OktOBERfest in Gatlinburg is 38 days of authentic Bavarian bliss.

The 6th Annual OktOBERfest runs September 25 through November 1 at Ober Gatlinburg, and it’s one of the best ways to experience fall in the Smoky Mountains. Be sure to experience this outdoor festival  during your fall visit to White Oak Lodge and Resort.

Gatlinburg’s OktOBERfest takes after the original in Munich, Germany, which celebrates its 205th anniversary this year.

Here’s what’s awesome about OktOBERfest:

The Food
Most of the food is German-inspired and derived from traditional Bavarian cuisine. Cuisine includes schnitzel, bratwurst, strudel, turkey legs, pretzels, sauerkraut and more. If German food isn’t for you, there are other eateries on site that will offer meals suited taste and budget.

The Beer
An outdoor Bier Garten is open every Thursday-Sunday for sampling, and a beer tent is available for guests over 21. Enjoy authentic Oktoberfest brews along with German-style wines.

The Music
Got your schuhplattling shoes on? It’s a traditional Bavarian folk dance you may find yourself learning. The Bavarian Fun Makers Band, in authentic costumes, will perform traditional Bavarian folk dances, oompah music, sing-a-longs, yodels and more with daily shows and multiple performances every day.

The Fun
There’s plenty to do when you need a break from eating and drinking. A new activity this year is the brand new Ski Mountain Coaster, an elevated wild ride through the woods bordering the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The indoor Ice Skating Rink, Alpine Slide, Chair Swing, Scenic Chairlift, Amaze’n Maze, Mini-Golf, a full arcade, and the Wildlife Encounter are also ready to entertain, and The Shops at Ober might just have that special souvenir.

No matter where you turn, there’s something fun to do, eat or drink at OktOBERfest.
