Gatlinburg Loves Mother Earth

There may be no better place to celebrate our beautiful awe-inspiring earth than the misty mountains and flowering fields of Gatlinburg.

If you’re staying at White Oak Lodge and Resort April 20-24, you can experience nature up-close and personal during Gatlinburg’s Earth Week celebration.

Focused around family fun and teaching everyone how to adopt easy green practices, the week-long event includes the following activities.

Monday April 20
Kick-off “Gatlinburg Goes Green” breakfast seminar: Practical tips for going green with breakfast to boot at the Hilton Garden Inn.

Tuesday, April 21
Spur Clean Up: Starting at Gatlinburg Welcome Center on the Spur, go on a hike or compete as a team to pick up litter along the Spur, a stretch of National Park between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge.

Wednesday, April 22
If you’ve been enjoying your White Oak Lodge and Resort cabin or condo stay properly, you probably have some recyclables laying around. Drop them off at the Goodwill Recycling Drop-off Center, located at 1855 East Parkway, from 11 a.m. – 6 p.m. Acceptable materials include newspaper, mixed paper, cardboard, metals, aluminum and steel cans, #1 and #2 plastic containers, all electronics, oils, and antifreeze.

Thursday, April 23
Earth Day Festival: Bring the family to the annual Earth Day Festival at Mynatt Park for music, activities and games, craft stations and food.

Friday, April 24
Earth Day 5K Run/Walk: Walk, run or just watch at the Fourth Annual Earth Day 5K Run/Walk in beautiful downtown Gatlinburg. A night race will take place at 10 p.m.

Get out and enjoy the scenery and maybe learn how to reduce your carbon footprint at the same time.

Are you appreciating Mother Earth? Tell us about your best “green” practices.
