Mountain Man Memorial March
When: April 12
Where: Downtown Gatlinburg
Pay your respects to the families of our nation’s fallen heroes while trekking through the Smoky Mountains at the Mountain Man Memorial March. This event started in 2008 as homage to 1LT Frank Walkup, IV, who was killed in action in Iraq, when a group of Cadets from the Rocky Top Battalion marched 26.2 miles wearing 35-pound backpacks. It has since grown to one of the largest events of its kind, with active duty military, reserve and guard units, veterans of all services, family and friends of the fallen, JROTC units and Cub Scouts participating.
With events for both runners and marchers, military and civilians, teams and individuals, everyone can join in and honor those who served. For more information and to register, visit the MMMM website.
