Start the Holidays Early with Gatlinburg’s Chili Cook-Off Event

The cold air and fallen leaves means it’s almost that time: Smoky Mountain Winterfest. If you’re visiting White Oak Lodge & Resort on Nov. 13, you’re in for a real treat!

The 24th Annual Chili Cook-off and Winter Magic Kickoff start the celebration Wednesday on the downtown parkway. From 5:00 to 8:00 p.m., you’ll discover local businesses and organizations handing out thousands of cups of chili, competing for various chili cooking awards.

The street event is free with music and attractions. It only takes $10 for endless chili-tastings and to cast your vote. The fan-favorite hot-chili eating contest returns, where each bowl gets progressively spicier than the last.

To mark the changing of the seasons, the night will also feature the ceremonial lighting. Around three million LED lights will turn the streets of Gatlinburg into a winter spectacle you won’t want to miss.

There are many other holiday events still to come in Gatlinburg, so let us know what you’re most excited for!
